I have been a foster parent for little more than a year. In the beginning you're told you are part of a team which gives you a nice warm fuzzy. With a good caseworker who stays involved and provides services efficiently it does feel like team work. It can be really great.

BUT, All it takes is one difficult caseworker to realize how much you really are at their mercy, especially if you are invested with your heart. I don't think I have ever felt less significant in any situation. It's amazing to me that I am entrusted with raising a child, yet my input so unimportant.

Thank you for sharing! Your words have given me strength.

Re: why being a foster parent isn't easy

hey great post.after reading this many people will learn to know about the foster parents, and last but not least, the children.great work....congrates!

Re: why being a foster parent isn't easy

Great post - we're readying ourselves to start fostering children in the next year.
