Great post - we're readying ourselves to start fostering children in the next year. Moved my office downstairs, cleaning up guest bedroom. I know it's going to be hard. but you're so right about it not being about me...if I can just remember that...

Reading this I feel like you have expressed my frustrations. I have been a foster parent for little more than a year. In the beginning you're told you are part of a team which gives you a nice warm fuzzy. With a good caseworker who stays involved and provides services efficiently it does feel like team work. It can be really great.

BUT, All it takes is one difficult caseworker to realize how much you really are at their mercy, especially if you are invested with your heart. I don't think I have ever felt less significant in any situation. It's amazing to me that I am entrusted with raising a child, yet my input so unimportant.

Thank you for sharing! Your words have given me strength.
