Hi! I just ran across this blog today as I'm preparing to transition my little cowboy home to his mom. This will leave me with no placements and not sure what I'm going to do with myself. What did you do?
I'm looking forward to reading more. I like your style, very straightforward, honest and open. I'm excited to find out if you've adopted yet.
    Best Wishes!

Well I am taking advantage of the time without any placements to catch up on the required trainings to keep my foster parenting license.

It's very difficult/next to impossible to make time for this when there are kids around. I just wrapped up my requirements. Now I'm starting to think about what to do next. Am I ready for another placememnt?

Are you doing this solo? I have not tried that myself. I wonder how feasible it is...

    Thanks for the comment. :-)

Good for you! We had a training on Wednesday night and it was so hectic. I really dislike using a babysitter if at all possible...even family.
I'm married. We've been together 8 years. You CAN do it solo...my SIL, before she married my little brother, did it as a single woman for 4 years. She took "last chance" kids who would go to a group home if they blew her placement. It was a big motivation for her to be extra patient and understanding. She considered adopting one boy, (age 10) however, it didn't work out. It sounds like your goal all along is to adopt, would you consider adopting solo?
It's been a long time since your last child. If it's not too personal, what's kept you away? It sounds like you are such great parents to these kids, you really make a difference in their lives. I particularly liked your post about the birthday party, and having folks from the home town come out. It's inspired me to do the same, going forward, if it feels right. I find that my gut is a good indicator of what I should do with my little people.
Sean, I'm so glad you responded so quickly. You may email me directly if you like. It's always nice to have a friend that really gets your situation.
Hope to hear from you soon!
