Just wanted to say that I stumbled upon your blog, and read it with great admiration for you both. As both a (former) child protective services caseworker/supervisor and an adoptive (gay) dad of a 21 year old and a soon to be adopted 9 year old, I have the utmost respect for foster parents. It is one of the most under-respected (by the population as a whole) and misunderstood undertakings for a person to commit to. It is thankless, tedious (3am phone calls from caseworkers who just want you to take the child "until the morning"), potentially harmful (we only tell you 1/8th of what we know for fear that you won't agree to take the child who just finished setting fire to his other foster parent's cat), but yet you guys (and many untold others) do it day in and day out.

I for one, stand up and say thank you to you and all the others. Especially the gay and lesbian one's who do it even knowing that they will become "targets" for more bigotry and hatred. Both of my boys came from group homes because there are not enough of people like you. So for all the times you've been taken advantage of by "well-intentioned" case workers, Thank you, Thank you, Thank you!!

Ridiculous!!!!, Esp when it they were already given. But I guess its always good to have a copy of everything for your self, even if you san it into a computer to keep.
